Diseases are spreading rapidly in Gaza, devastated by Israeli attacks.

According to foreign media, the WHO spokeswoman in Geneva, Margaret Harris, said in a briefing on the situation in Gaza that if the health and sanitation system in the Gaza Strip is not restored, the people of Gaza may die of more diseases than the bomb.

The spokesman said that since October 7, Israeli attacks have been continuing in Gaza, due to which all systems, including infrastructure, have been destroyed, while hospitals are facing the worst shortage of other medical needs, including fuel, due to attacks on them.

A WHO spokesperson said that due to poor sanitation, other infections such as stomach upset are spreading rapidly and unfortunately, due to the collapse of the treatment system, it has become difficult to save lives.

In addition, the attack on Gaza's largest al-Shafa hospital by the WHO was described as a 'tragedy' and expressed concern over the detention of senior doctors, including the director of the hospital, by Israeli forces this month.

According to media reports, WHO has reported 44,000 cases of diarrhea and 70,000 respiratory infections in Gaza, while the number of cases is expected to be even higher.

Reports indicate that Gaza has a population of 2.3 million, half of whom are children, who are also deprived of drinking water.
