The challenge of acceptance

The challenge of acceptance

Two decisions given by the judiciary in recent days have played the role of a booster for Tehreek-e-Insaf. By the way, Tehreek-e-Insaaf still does not have a level playing field for elections and unlike other parties, PTI is also facing difficulties in holding meetings, processions and corner meetings.

However, the Supreme Court's earlier decision regarding the ciphers raised the hopes of the Tehreek-e-Insaf leadership and workers regarding the elections. The government was very disappointed with this decision, while the PML-N and the People's Party were also angry with this decision of the Supreme Court. A few hours after the Supreme Court's decision regarding the cipher, the Election Commission issued an order to withdraw the bat symbol from Tehreek-e-Insaf in the case of intra-party elections.

The decision was generally seen as a harsh decision and it was hoped that the Supreme Court would reverse the Election Commission's decision. Yesterday, on the request of Tehreek-e-Insaf, the Peshawar High Court did the same and issued an injunction against the Election Commission's decision to withdraw the bat symbol from Tehreek-e-Insaf.

It was being said for some time that the bat symbol would probably not be on the ballot paper, but many questions were raised about the timing and nature of the decision on which the bat symbol was withdrawn from Tehreek-e-Insaaf. Although the Election Commission's decision created a situation of despair within the Tehreek-e-Insaf, the decision of the Peshawar High Court by returning the bat symbol to the Tehreek-e-Insaf created a new enthusiasm and excitement among the PTI leaders and workers.

In a situation where the PML-N is nowhere to be seen in the field despite all the sub-state facilities and perhaps it is hoping that the power will be given to them as a gift without doing anything, Tehreek-e-Insaf should get back the mark of the bat and Submission of nomination papers by many workers of PTI is a big achievement for PTI. Elections are now six weeks away and in the meantime, it remains to be seen how Tehreek-e-Insaf overcomes the obstacles in front of it and how successful the PML-N is in regaining its lost political position in Punjab. But since the two recent judgments of the judiciary, the possible surprise that was being talked about in the elections regarding Tehreek-e-Insaaf may have increased.

Despite Imran Khan's fight with the establishment and his popularity after the May 9 attacks on the army by Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan and Tehreek-e-Insaf face the challenge of lack of acceptance. It does not seem possible for Imran Khan to participate in the elections till now and it will only be possible if the Supreme Court quashes the conviction of the founder Tehreek-e-Insaf in the Tosha Khana case and that too as soon as possible. Because Imran Khan has very little time to remove his disqualification due to the election schedule.

The leadership of Tehreek-e-Insaf believes that if there is a bat mark on the ballot paper, then the voter and supporter of Tehreek-e-Insaf will also come out and the surprise that is being talked about will definitely be given by Tehreek-e-Insaf on February 8, 2024. However, in the context of the kind of fight that Imran Khan took up, it seems difficult to do so, but if the leaders of Tehreek-e-Insaf are so sure about the surprise, then they should resolve their differences with authority for acceptance and such actions and statements. Avoiding that which reinforces the narrative or impression of the anti-army Tehreek-e-Insaaf. I have said this before and I am still saying that if Tehreek-e-Insaf does not fix its affairs and end the anti-army impression, it is not difficult to predict what kind of situation will arise in the event of a surprise in the election.
