Literacy rate of women is lowest in Balochistan, details presented in Senate

Islamabad: The details of the literacy rate of people aged 10 years and above in the country were presented in the Senate.


The Ministry of Education has submitted the written response to the Literacy Economic Survey 2022/23 in the House.


According to the Ministry of Education, the literacy rate in Pakistan is 62.8 percent, the lowest literacy rate in the provinces is 54.5 percent in Balochistan, while the literacy rate is 66.3 percent in Punjab, 61.8 percent in Sindh and 55.1 percent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.


It has been stated by the Ministry of Education that the literacy rate of women is 51.9% and that of men is 73.4% across the country, the lowest literacy rate among women is 36.8% in Balochistan and 69.5% among men.


In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, female literacy rate is 37.4%, male literacy rate is 72.8%, Sindh female literacy rate is 49.7%, male literacy rate is 72.9% and Punjab female literacy rate is 58.4% and male literacy rate is 74.2%.
