Karachi: Several people were injured in aerial firing on the occasion of New Year

At 12 o'clock fireworks and celebrations started across the country with the beginning of the New Year. In Karachi too, the new year began with aerial firing and firecrackers.
Aerial firing was done in Saddar, Lyari, Garden, Sachal, Korangi, Orangi, Site, Sarjani, Malir Quaidabad, Gulistan Johar, Liaquatabad, New Karachi, Baldia, Kemari.
Aerial firing and fireworks were also displayed in other areas including Sohrab Goth, Federal B Area and Clifton, Khawaja Ajmer Nagri, Sir Syed Town, Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony.
According to rescue officials, 21 people, including a 7-year-old child, were injured in aerial firing in different areas of Karachi on the occasion of New Year.
According to the police, women and children are also included among those injured by aerial firing, while the number of people arrested for aerial firing in different areas has reached 19.
Police say that the injured have been shifted to Jinnah, Civil and Abbasi Shaheed Hospitals for medical assistance.
Earlier, Karachi Police Chief Khadim Hussain Rand had indicated to take strict legal action against those involved in aerial firing on New Year.
Additional IG Khadim Hussain Rand said that cases will be registered against those involved in aerial firing, which will include the provisions of attempted murder.
It should be noted that caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar had announced to celebrate the New Year celebrations in a simple way to show solidarity with the Palestinians, after which the administration of the federal capital Islamabad canceled the permits for all types of fireworks on the New Year.
