"Attainment of power" "Only manifesto"
photo fileWhere did you fall in 'Election Election', if the elections were going on, 'manishor' would have come, the election campaign would have been going on loudly and the atmosphere of debate would have been visible. So far, Mian Sahib has held only one meeting and has postponed the second one due to 'personal engagement', however, Maryam Nawaz is holding many meetings. On the other hand, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's 'arrows' are pointing towards the 'lion'. It seems that the 'political war' of both of them is 'power' i.e. 'Prime Minister' to be appointed on February 8. It could be Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto or some 'surprise'.
There is a full exclusion of a third political party from the election contest. Free is not free. Leader out, party out, election sign out, procession is a distant thing, if the meeting is online, then the internet goes down. In such a situation, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has started an underground election campaign, but how will the 'polling agents' work on the election day. Even if the voter comes out, where will he go?
In this context, the February 8 election is happening, but it is still unclear why former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif is not considered to be in his "form." I think the assurances given in 'London' have not been fulfilled and 'absolute power' is not being given. Perhaps even those who gave assurances had no idea that Punjab would have changed to such an extent.
In the 2013 elections, PPP also did not believe that they would get such a bad defeat in the elections in Punjab and they remained under the illusion that PTI would take the votes of Muslim League (N). Now Bilawal Bhutto took a better political decision to fight from Lahore and get a foothold back in Punjab. If not in this election, then in the coming years, if they make some changes in their politics, it is possible to return to some extent.
Imran Khan and Tehreek-e-Insaf were both in agreement to throw out the power, in which there were no less mistakes of Khan himself. They also wanted to get these two parties and Sharifs, Zardari out of the election race but also out of the political race, first through General Bajwa and then through methods like General Faiz. Political 'circles' such as this are where politics swirls. However, Imran got out in April 2022 and has been struggling to make a comeback ever since. On the other hand, the 17-month government of Muslim League (N) and PPP made Imran the most popular again.
Three years ago, Mian Nawaz Sharif went to London with the permission of the court with the approval of Khan Sahib for 'treatment', then he had no idea that if he came back, Punjab would also be lost due to his brother's policies. Indeed, Shahbaz Sharif had truly said that 'we have sacrificed our politics', now how did we save the state, one should ask Ishaq Dar Sahib. After 2013, Mian Sahib lost his closest associate Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and in 2023, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Miftah Ismail, Mohammad Zubair and Asif Kirmani have also lost, if not angry, certainly. In such a situation, if the Muslim League (N) and especially Mian Sahib were given a lame government, would he like to become the Prime Minister himself? The answer to this question will come in a few days. For the Sharifs, the 'Punjab throne' is more important than the Prime Ministership.
All the parties and leaders in the field at this time have the same manifesto, the same constitution, the 8th of February elections are being held extra-constitutionally, otherwise it would have been three months since an elected government. Mr. Zardari's politics will start after February 8. He is an expert at "number games," which is the basis of his successful political career. Now, do they only want to see Bilawal as the Prime Minister or are they thinking about themselves? Wait a little... Mian Sahib also knows all these things and he has a special knowledge of Zardari's politics till now. Perhaps this is also the cause of Mian Sahib's problem. Even if he has only conducted one or two sessions in Punjab, it is obvious that "all is not well" based on his own experiences.
Manifestos have come from the parties that may be part of the power but not in power. For example, the manifesto of Jamaat-e-Islami is not different from their style of politics. I wrote it before and I still say that the biggest weakness of such an organized and disciplined Jamaat is that it seems far away from the methods of electoral politics. He should find the answer to this question himself that why he does not get to vote. The manifesto of MQM is also similar to their politics because their politics itself is not national level, it is limited to Sindh only.
Once upon a time there was a time when a complete manifesto was brought. A five-year plan was presented. If not democracy in parties, at least there were questions about performance and calculation in the general workers meeting. Now there is a central council, but each party has formed its own 'core committee'. The procedure which these parties have implemented in their own parties is now being implemented in the whole country, that is, how can they come to 'power' for which they are ready to do everything.
Is there any way forward? Yes, 'Confess today and the shame will be removed', everyone should openly admit their mistakes. Agreement on politics, constitution, economy, education and health can be agreed upon. The three major parties can reach a conclusion on civil and military relations. Devolution of Powers to Lower Levels and Empowered Local Government. Now if you don't like to see each other's appearance, if you agree on all of them, then you can sign, then you can stop abusing each other.
I have written this before and I am still saying that 'Pakistan' was supposed to be a state, we made it 'real estate'. That's why today builders are in politics and journalism too, so whether they get education or not, health facilities are not available, clean drinking water is available or not, they have been promised to give plots to journalists and houses to the people. The true Pakistan is no longer with us, and democracy has reduced to a conflict of interests. Let's see which democracy's sun rises and which democracy sets on February 8.
