Nepra made electricity expensive for the people of Karachi

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the cost of electricity for consumers in Karachi.


NEPRA approved the government's request to increase the price of electricity for Karachi and approved an increase of Rs. 72 paisa per unit price of electricity.


This approval has been given by Nepra in the context of the second and third quarter adjustments of the last financial year, according to which, in the quarterly adjustment of January-March 2023, one rupee is 25 paisa per unit, while in the quarterly adjustment of October to December 2022, it is 47 paise per unit. The addition has been approved.



Nepra's decision said that the increase was approved to maintain a uniform electricity tariff across the country while the collections from electricity consumers should be made in January, February and March 2024.


NEPRA notified the federal authorities of the decision.
