How much will the burden of electricity bills be on the people of Karachi in the new year?

In the new year, there will be an additional burden on electricity bills for consumers in Karachi.


According to the sources, the quarterly adjustment/surcharge for Karachi will be 7.67 rupees per unit in January and the burden of 4 different quarterly adjustments will fall together for Karachi next month, the total burden of quarterly adjustments from January 1 will be 6.15 rupees per unit.


Sources say that a surcharge of Rs 1.52 per unit will also be included for Karachi in January. The quarterly adjustment for April to june 2023 was increased by Rs 3.28 per unit. April 2024: The quarterly adjustments will be received from electric consumers until March 2024.



According to the sources, the quarterly adjustment increase for October-December 2022 is 47 paise per unit and a plan has been prepared for the additional receipts from electricity consumers for October-December till February 2024.


Sources further said that the increase in the quarterly adjustment for January-March 2023 is Rs 1.25 per unit and the additional collections for January-March are also planned to be made from electricity consumers till February 2024, while the increase in the quarterly adjustment for July-September 2023 is Rs. 1.15 per unit, which K Electric plans to charge consumers in January-March 2024.


According to the sources, an additional surcharge of Rs 1.52 per unit will be imposed for Karachi from this month, the additional surcharge will be applicable for one year till November 2024.
