Engine of PIA flight from Karachi to Madinah caught fire, emergency landing

A national airline PIA flight from Karachi to Madinah made an emergency landing due to an engine fire.


According to the aviation authorities, PIA flight PK 743 took off from Karachi to Madinah at 5:04 in the morning. Immediately after departure, the plane was still approaching when the pilot saw sparks coming out from the engine of the Boeing 777 aircraft. There was also a warning of a fire alarm in the cockpit, after which the pilot tried to control the fire in the engine of the aircraft with the help of a fire bottle, which stopped one of the engines of the aircraft.


Officials said that the pilot immediately contacted air traffic control and sought permission for an emergency landing and the captain landed the plane safely at Karachi airport.


According to PIA spokesperson, there were 276 passengers on the plane, after the plane landed, the civil aviation team arrived immediately and conducted alcohol, blood and urine tests on the captain and the first officer.


According to the spokesman, PIA engineers are inspecting the engine, while no evidence of fire was found in the plane's engine, the plane was landed on one engine as per the procedure.


 The spokesman said that the passengers have been transferred to the hotel, out of which 15 passengers refused to go, the passengers will be sent to Madinah Munawara by an alternative flight at 5 pm.
