Cipher case hearing adjourned without action, media representatives were not allowed inside

The hearing of the cipher case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi was adjourned without action.


Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain of the Special Court of Official Secrets Act heard the cipher case in Adiala Jail, Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi attended the courtroom.


FIA Special Prosecutor Zulfikar Abbas Naqvi, legal team of Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi and their families were also present in the court room.


Strict security arrangements were made outside the Adiala Jail for the hearing of the cipher case, while a large number of local and foreign media representatives were also present outside the Adiala Jail to cover the case, but the media representatives were not allowed to enter despite the court order. Not allowed.



Special Court Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqarnain adjourned the hearing of the case till December 4 without proceeding.


It may be recalled that the Ministry of Law had issued a notification on November 29 regarding the hearing of the Official Secrets Act in Adiala Jail.


On the previous hearing, the judge of the special court ordered the hearing of the cipher case in an open court and asked media representatives to allow coverage, however, the special court established under the Secret Act decided to hold the hearing of the cipher case in view of security concerns. Asked to do it in jail and then the supervising federal cabinet had also issued a formal notification in this regard.
