Karachi: Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab said on the fire incident at Ayesha Manzil that buildings cannot operate without fire safety in Karachi and action will be taken against the buildings which are approved without safety system.


Yesterday, a sudden fire broke out in the furniture shops near Ayesha Manzil, which soon engulfed the residential flats.


To find out the causes of the fire, the caretaker chief minister of Sindh ordered an inquiry, while the governor of Sindh called for a report.


In a conversation with Geo News, Sindh Governor Kamran Tesuri said that Karachi has been made such that there is no peace in this city, we are all responsible for such tragedies but others are held responsible. Such incidents should not happen again and again.


On the other hand, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said that the inspection of buildings has started at four different places in the city. Buildings cannot operate without fire safety in Karachi.


On the other hand, caretaker interior minister of Sindh Brigadier Haris Nawaz said that the incident is a great lesson, it is hoped that the government of Sindh and other institutions will sit together.


Besides, the rescue process is going on in the residential building and another body has been removed from the fire-affected residential building.


According to the rescue officials, the body found on the first floor of the building was shifted to the hospital, the deceased died of suffocation and burns, after which the number of people killed in the incident increased to 5 while one person was injured.
