A key department's decision to pull out before the start of the first-class tournament
Photo: FileFour days before the start of President's Trophy, a first-class tournament consisting of Pakistan's departmental teams, an important department, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), has decided to withdraw from the tournament.
After the restoration of departmental cricket in the country, the President's Trophy consisting of 8 departmental teams was scheduled to start from December 16.
The teams of SNGPL, SSGC, WAPDA, KRL, PTV, HEC, State Bank and Ghani Glass were included in the draws for the event, but four days before the start of the event, SSGC has decided to withdraw from the event and informed the PCB verbally.
According to the sources, the sports department of SSGC had made complete preparations for the tournament, the players had also been signed, but the higher officials of the organization refused to allow the team to go at the last minute.
Two senior PCB officials have confirmed that they have been informed verbally of the decision by the SSGC but are awaiting a written communication after which the new draws for the tournament will be announced. .
After the withdrawal of SSGC, now there is a possibility of competition between 7 teams in the President Trophy.
It should be noted that National Bank, KPT and Port Qasim have also declined to participate in the tournament.
