There is no doubt that Shehbaz Sharif built his reputation through development works in Punjab including Lahore, but PML-N gets votes in the name of Nawaz Sharif. If this were not the case, there would have been no need for Mian Nawaz Sharif to return home.
No matter how much the effects of family politics and heredity on positions are criticized in Pakistan, but due to some bitter experiences, political leaders here have been awarding only their loved ones or highly trusted associates to the most important positions.
A clear example of this is the appointment of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz during Mian Shehbaz Sharif's prime ministership in the coalition government. It was a time when PML-N could make any other party leader, but if the father became the prime minister, then the son was placed on the throne of the Chief Minister.
Based on the survey, PML-N is confident that this time, Mian Nawaz Sharif will be able to become the Prime Minister for the fourth time. Not only this, PML-N will also rule in Punjab.
If this happens, there is a strong possibility that Shahbaz Sharif will not be the Chief Minister of Punjab, anyway, Shahbaz Sharif wanted to come to the center during the third prime ministership of Nawaz Sharif. It is a different matter that at that time Hamza Shahbaz could have been entrusted with the Chief Ministership while Maryam Nawaz was not ready for this position.
This time the situation is different. The way Maryam Nawaz has kept the party active during the Imrani period is also recognized by her rivals.
During Mian Nawaz Sharif's stay in London, the way Maryam Nawaz has held enthusiastic rallies in different parts of the country, especially in Punjab, it is clear that Maryam Nawaz has made her place in comparison to Hamza Shehbaz.
This is the reason why Nawaz Sharif is not only supporting Maryam Nawaz at every step, but the reins of the party are practically handed over to her.
At the beginning of the year, Maryam Nawaz was made the senior vice president and was then given the task of reorganizing the PML-N by making her the chief organizer of the party.
There is no doubt that as Asif Zardari will decide to give tickets to the leaders of the People's Party, in the same way Mian Nawaz Sharif will give election tickets to the PML-N. Nawaz Sharif gave a glimpse of the future by giving the reins of the party to Maryam Nawaz.
The possibility of bringing Maryam Nawaz into provincial politics instead of the center is probably more because the base of PML-N politics is Punjab.
However, chances of forming a coalition government at the center are high. In this situation, if Maryam Nawaz is given the governance of Punjab, she will get a better opportunity to show the essence of her abilities.
There is only one deficiency in Maryam Nawaz's ability to take over the throne of Punjab and that is inexperience. She has not been elected to any public office till date, she has not even become a member of the provincial assembly. However, this inexperience is her strongest weapon also.
By not being a part of the coalition government, Maryam Nawaz showed great prudence. There is no stain of corruption on her, no accusation of misuse of powers.
If the Chief Minister is entrusted to Maryam Nawaz, it will also be a step towards the evolution of PML-N because PML-N has not given a chance to any woman in both the positions of Prime Minister or Chief Minister.
On the contrary, PPP has the credit that Benazir Bhutto was the only woman Prime Minister of the country.
If not today, then tomorrow Bilawal Bhutto becomes the Prime Minister and Faryal Talpur or Asifa Bhutto is made the Chief Minister of Sindh, then maybe the PPP will take the title of the first elected woman Chief Minister in the country forever.
