The Sins of History and the Palestine Problem
It has been four weeks since the worst terrorism in history and no one is listening to the screams of Palestinian children and the wails of women in Gaza and the West Bank. Those who practiced Jihad in the cause of Allah and those who followed Musawi jurisprudence also disappeared somewhere. Doomsday has come. More than 10,000 Palestinians have been killed and the international laws of war and the Geneva Convention have been violated. Gaza has been devastated by the 28-day bombing, now hospitals and shelters are also targeted.
The evil Israeli forces have now besieged Gaza City and how long will the fire and bloodshed last until the final battle or will there be any way to a ceasefire? After the first deportation of Palestinians (1948) and the second deportation (1967), will the refugees of Gaza be deported in the Sinai desert? Or Hamas mujahideen hiding in Gaza's underground tunnels and trenches under the rubble will use more than 200 Israeli hostages as weapons to force Israel to retreat. It is a big gamble for both sides.
Although Israel's Netanyahu government is under severe pressure on the issue of Jewish hostages and whose future is also very uncertain, it will be forced to retreat or else it will not retreat without eliminating Hamas by putting their security at stake. Israel will have annexed the northern strip of Gaza and the refugees of Gaza will be confined in the southern part or will be pushed into the Sinai desert. At an international conference in Cairo, Egypt was offered to forgive its debts of 165 billion dollars in return, but President al-Sisi is still not ready to give refuge to Palestinians in the Sinai Valley.
If this happens, it will be the second major Palestinian exodus (Aqaba) since 1948. The news about the opening of fronts by Hezbollah from Lebanon and Houthi Mujahideen from Yemen has died down after the speech of the leader of Hezbollah the previous day. If anyone stands with the Palestinians now, only Iran. It seems that most of the Arab countries, especially the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan, are waiting for either Hamas to be cleared or for Israel to be forced to withdraw. Therefore, the meeting of the Arab League consisting of 22 Arab countries has been called on November 11, 34 days after the start of the war. Meanwhile, the tide of world public opinion has turned in favor of the oppressed Palestinians and millions of people are protesting for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid around the world, especially in the West.
Although the United States and its allies have vetoed the ceasefire resolutions in the Security Council, the ceasefire resolution has been passed by a two-thirds majority in the General Assembly. Although the US and most of its allies have joined Israel in this war in defense of Israel. But now the pressure of international public opinion and the possibility of possible failure of the next election of President Biden in the United States itself, especially in swing states, has forced the American administration to pretend to prevent Israel from further bloodshed. But it seems that Israel's far-right Zionist government will not back down just yet.
The state (14 May 1948) itself became the worst colonial settler (Zionist) state, as a result of the prolonged abuses and deportations of Jews and the Holocaust of World War II. The end of the occupation of the Ottoman Empire was followed by the British occupation and the Balfour Declaration was issued in 1917. But in the resolution number 181 that was passed in the United Nations, two provinces of Israelis and Arabs were to be established on the land of Palestine, as if a two-state solution was found. But David Ben Gurion not only announced the state of Israel, but also expelled 700,000 Palestinians from their land in the Arab-Israeli war of 1948. The Arab countries themselves did not want a separate Palestinian state. Therefore, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, Jordan, Gaza, Egypt and the Golan Heights came under the control of Syria.
But due to the overwhelming defeat of the Arabs in the Six-Day War of 1967, all these areas were taken over by Israel and since then there has been a dispute over the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel in these occupied areas. In this resistance, the Palestinian Liberation Front (PLO) and Chairman Yasser Arafat emerged as the leader of the Palestinians. As a result of the struggle of Al-Fatah and the left-wing revolutionary organizations, the issue of Palestine came on the agenda. And the path of peace began to emerge. The three issues that came to the fore were the right of return of the Palestinians, the resolution of the claims of the three religions on Jerusalem, and the end of the growing Israeli settler occupation that hinders the establishment of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza. Agreements were reached between the PLO and Israel through secret talks in Oslo in 1993 and 1995, and Chairman Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin agreed in 1993 to advance the peace process in the presence of President Clinton.
But the Zionist extremists killed Yitzhak Rabin and there came extremists like Netanyahu and the implementation of the agreement went backwards instead of moving forward, then the supporters of armed struggle also started to appear among the Palestinians and the Palestinian Authority came up against the peace efforts. went Interestingly, not only Israel played a major role in the failure of the Palestinian Authority, but Israel also supported extremist groups. As a result of this internal conflict, Hamas won the 2007 elections and occupied Gaza. Now, in response to Hamas' attack on Israeli citizens on October 7, Israel has hit Gaza brick by brick. Will it be just an adventure or will it lead to peace? However, what has emerged historically is that it is not going to be solved by Zionism or terrorism. If Israel wants peace, it is not possible without giving justice to the Palestinians and without the establishment of their state, which adheres to coexistence with Israel. The sins of the injustices of history can be washed away only with justice for the Palestinians and the security of Israel.
