Islamabad: Pakistan has applied to join the BRICS bloc in 2024.


The Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed Pakistan's request during the weekly briefing and said that Russia and China will help Pakistan in getting membership.


The spokesperson of the Foreign Office said that Pakistan took this decision after reviewing the progress related to BRICS in Johannesburg, hoping that our request will be implemented by BRICS.


On the other hand, Pakistani Ambassador to Russia Mohammad Khalid Jamali said that Pakistan is counting on Russia's help during the membership process.


BRICS is a grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa and was extended in August this year after 13 years.
