According to media reports, Indonesia's Chief Justice Anwar Usman, a close friend of President Joko Widodo, has been found guilty by a judicial panel of fundamental violations of court rules.

The judicial panel said that the Chief Justice failed to protect himself from influence in the judicial decision regarding the age limit of presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

According to reports, a five-member bench headed by the Chief Justice had declared the president's son eligible to contest the vice-presidential election.

On the court verdict, the judicial panel said that it was proved that the Chief Justice had violated the Judges' Ethical Code and that he did not base himself on the principle of impartiality.

The judicial panel said that Chief Justice Anwar Ibrahim has been removed from his post but he can remain with 9 judges but he will not be a part of any election case due to conflict of interest.
