According to media reports, classical dancer and social worker Sheema Kirmani was attending the British King's birthday celebration at the British Deputy High Commission in Karachi, in which politicians, parliamentarians and bureaucrats and other artistes were also present. They shouted slogans against the Israeli aggression in Gaza, whereupon the security guards surrounded them and tried to evict them.
In an interview with a local newspaper, Shima Kirmani said that he shouted for a cease-fire in Gaza when people at the event were celebrating the birthday of British King Charles III.
He said that the security guard tried to catch him, on which he forbade himself to touch and said that I will leave the ceremony on my own.
Shima Kirmani said that when I was being kicked out, no one sitting in the ceremony said anything and did not support me.
Position of the British High Commission
In this regard, the spokesman of the British Deputy High Commission has said that the British Deputy High Commissioner was giving an important speech regarding climate change in Pakistan, when Shima Kirmani started making noise, the security personnel came to stop him, but he left the ceremony on his own, so it is not at all true that we have thrown them out.
