Foreign media reports claim that Afghanistan has permanently shuttered its embassy in India as a result of difficulties there; Afghanistan has verified these reports.
The closure of the embassy has been confirmed by the Afghan Embassy on social media platform X.
Based on information received, the Afghan government has declared that the embassy has been closed since November 23 because India has not provided diplomatic cooperation.
In a press release issued by the Afghan Embassy, it has been said that after the operations of the embassy were stopped on October 1, the decision to close the embassy has been implemented from Thursday.
The press release further stated that the decision to suspend the operations of the embassy on September 30 was hoped that the Indian government would take some positive steps for the day-to-day routines with the embassy, but unfortunately, during these 8 weeks of waiting for the extension of diplomats' visas. And the behavior of the Indian government was not realistic due to which the embassy was under pressure from the Taliban and the Indian government and the embassy was facing serious difficulties in continuing its operations.
According to the Afghan ambassador, the keys of the embassy have been given to the host government, the Afghan diplomats posted in India have gone to America and Europe for political asylum.
According to media reports, no immediate response has been issued by the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the permanent closure of the Afghan embassy.
The Afghan embassy in New Delhi was manned by employees nominated by the Ashraf Ghani administration.
