One of the UK's elite preparatory schools has appointed a robot as principal who will act as the main director using artificial intelligence technology.

According to a British newspaper report, Cottesmore School in West Sussex has appointed Abigail Bailey as the head of the school, an artificial intelligence robot specially designed for this purpose. He is assisted in his work by a traditional human director. Thus, this is the first school of its kind in which a robot has been entrusted with human responsibility.

The report quotes the school's (human) principal, Tom Rogerson, as saying that the robot or chatbot will help him and other teachers write school policies for neurodiverse students. According to the report, the artificial intelligence robot works like the popular chat application ChatGPT, a large linguistic model that was trained on vast areas of data.

It can provide responses similar to human responses, was created with the help of an artificial intelligence developer and is designed to provide a wealth of knowledge in machine learning and education management, according to the research paper. "It's nice to think there's someone incredibly trained who can help you make decisions," said Principal Rogerson.

That doesn't mean you never ask people for advice, of course you do, it's very calming and satisfying to know you don't have to call or bother anyone, he said.
