Twitter has failed to cooperate with an investigation into the content, Australian authorities said
TwitterAustralia has fined social media platform Twitter 610,500 Australian dollars under the country's Online Safety Act in a case of an investigation into illegal child abuse content.
According to the German Broadcasting Corporation, Australia's regulatory authority said in a statement yesterday that Twitter had failed to cooperate with investigations into the content. Twitter has become the first online platform in Australia to be banned under the country's Online Safety Act. A fine was imposed.
The E Safety Commission, which oversees online safety in Australia, said Twitter had not responded to inquiries, particularly about reports of child abuse or exploitation content on the platform and investigations into such content. Questions about the methods used were not answered.
