Israel has taken unfair advantage of Turkey's good intentions and that is why they will not visit Israel anymore: Turkish President

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Hamas is not a terrorist organization but a libertarian group that is fighting for the protection of its homeland.

Addressing elected members of his party in parliament, Erdogan said Israel had taken advantage of Turkey's good intentions and that is why he would no longer visit Israel.

He urged foreign powers to put pressure on Israel to stop bombing Gaza and demanded an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Erdogan said in his speech that the detainees' exchange between the two sides should happen right away and that the Rafah border crossing should remain open for humanitarian aid.

He also conveyed his dismay at the UN's "inability" to put an end to the conflict between Hamas and Israel.

In his speech, the Turkish President proposed holding an international Israel-Palestine peace conference and said that the Palestinian people should unite for a two-state solution, and Arab states should provide moral and financial support for it.

According to Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Muslim nations should work together to achieve a sustainable peace and truce, and Turkey is prepared to stand in as a guarantor for the Palestinian side. Non-regional nations should also avoid fanning the flames of support for Israel.
