US news network MSNBC has suspended three Muslim anchors following heightened tensions over the Israeli war in Gaza. According to Arab News, two sources have confirmed that Mehdi Hassan, Ayman Muhyiddin and Ali Velashi have been quietly removed as anchors since the Hamas attack on Israel.
According to the report, Arab news website Seema Four revealed that the left-leaning news network did not air the scheduled program of the 'Mahdi Hasan Show' on Thursday, in addition to another Muslim anchor Muhyiddin. Plans to call on Joy Reid's show on Thursday and Friday were also abandoned.
Sources have also revealed that Ali Velshi is being replaced by another anchor for the upcoming weekend shows.
On the other hand, Seema Four has further stated that the American channel MSNCB strongly rejects any notion that Mehdi Hasan or Mohiuddin is being ignored in any way.
Two Arab News sources have confirmed the decision to suspend the American channel MSNBC. Sources close to the network say that the attitude of the channel is exactly the same as it was after 9/11, ie 'you are either with us or against us'.
The source added that it is unfortunate that the news network is now targeting anchors of a particular faith beyond political ideology.
Meanwhile, there was no response from Arab News to MSNBC.
On the other hand, Ali Velashi is still reporting on other shows, according to the report. Sources of Arab News say that the future of 3 Muslim anchors of American media is not clear.
